Paris in the Summertime

The first trip I ever took to Paris was in February of 2016.  I had a cold, it was freezing, rainy, & I realized when I got there that I had ZERO French words to use.  I felt like an arrogant American expecting everyone in this new country to speak my language--& then there was the search for local coffee that ended, dramatically, with Starbucks.

It wasn't exactly my ideal circumstance, but luckily that trip was sandwiched between beautiful experiences in London, Florence, & Venice.  A little over one year later, our dear friends, Stephanie & Kyle, invited us to join them in Paris on the first part of their multi-week European adventure!  We were still living in England, & we flew back to America only 2 days after getting back from France, but this little trip was so worth it.

The differences: I had been practicing French (I'm still VERY terrible at it, but I can say hello, goodbye, & order a crêpe or a coffee--the essentials), we went in June, & we knew that we needed to make reservations at restaurants ahead of time.

So! This time, we got to spend a few days wandering around dreamy Paris in the Summertime with our lovely friends.  We ate crêpes & ice cream & coffee & macarons & cheese & wine & we had the most perfect time.

Dear Paris, sorry we got off to a rough start, you're a freakin' dream.  I love you so.

A few places you see here where we got food or coffee:

Shakespeare & Co -- English bookstore & coffee shop right next to Notre Dame

Carrefour City Market -- Grocery store right on the Southeast end of the lawn stretching in front of the Eiffel Tower where we got our picnic goods

Radio Days -- Adorable cafe with great coffee & breakfast.  Pictured here is my granola & creme fraiche which was drool worthy

Jeanne B -- Restaurant where we made reservations & ate dinner one night.  First time I've ever had gazpacho & it blew my mind. 10/10 would recommend.

Le Poutch Cafe -- Another adorable cafe with yummy coffee & food

Thanks so much for traveling back to Paris with me!

love,

M
